With reference to the Newsletter published in our website on November 2014 titled “Parliament Finally Approves E-Commerce Law”, the Law on Electronic Commerce (“Law”) entered into force on May 1, 2015. It is worth noting that, Article 6/1 of the Law stipulates that commercial electronic messages can now only be sent with prior consent of the recipient. But once the recipient provides its contact details, then no more consent shall be necessary for purposes of change, use or maintenance regarding the goods or services. This Article, however, will not be applied to databases which have been set off prior to the effective date of the Law for purpose of sending commercial electronic messages.
