Turkey Ratifies the Additional Protocol to the Convention no. 108 on Data Protection:
It continues to be a dynamic year in terms of data protection for Turkey since after our previous Client Alert the Parliament has now ratified the Additional Protocol to the Convention for the Protection of Individuals with regard to Automatic Processing of Personal Data.

A New Era for Data Protection in Turkey: The Law on the Protection of Personal Data Enters into Force:
On 7 April 2016, the Law has entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette. Whereas Turkish data protection law previously depended on scattered provisions of privacy in various codes and regulations, the Law will provide the general framework for the protection of personal data henceforth.
