A New Era for Data Protection in Turkey: The Law on the Protection of Personal Data Enters into Force:
On 7 April 2016, the Law has entered into force upon its publication in the Official Gazette. Whereas Turkish data protection law previously depended on scattered provisions of privacy in various codes and regulations, the Law will provide the general framework for the protection of personal data henceforth.

The Turkish Parliament finally passed the long-awaited Law on the Protection of Personal Data which is to set forth the general framework on data protection and it currently awaits for presidential approval before being published in the Official Gazette.
